Rick Campbell - Well known in the Englewood community

Richard Gary Campbell was born on July 21st, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois. In High School Rick was a gymnast and loved driving his first car, a Peugeot (pujo). His love for cars came from his dad who sold Auto Paint and spent time showing Rick how to fix them. His High School job was at Larry’s auto. In addition to loving cars, Rick loved motorcycles. He started riding while he was in High School, where he met his future wife, Renee. They came out to Colorado for a ski trip and fell in love with the adventures awaiting in beautiful Colorado. Rick and Renee loved skiing, camping, and going on lots of Motorcycle rides. Rick was an amazing provider for his family doing what he loved most, fixing cars. He started working at Sam’s Automotive and Covert Auto Body before opening his own Auto Body shop in July of 1979 called Auto Body & Frame Clinic of Colorado located in Englewood, Colorado.
Rick had three daughters and one of our favorite places to spend time with him was at the shop. They loved playing office with the check machine, trying to answer the phones, writing boyfriend’s names on the glass doors with window cleaner, giving each other rides on the floor-jack, eating all the candy that was meant for customers and learning how to sweep dirt like a boss. His pride and joy were his 7 grandchildren. A few of his grandsons spent their summers working alongside their grandpa as he taught them about cars. Rick was very excited to restore a 64 Comet, the same model as one of the first cars he worked on in High school. It was a project that lasted more than three decades as he tried to work on it in between putting his customers first. He never got to see it finished.
Jesus called Rick to Heaven from sudden and unexpected cardiac arrest on Monday, June 27th. Earlier that same day he shared with his wife, Renee, how thrilled he was with the progress of his Comet. Rick was surrounded by his entire family until his last breath on June 29th. Since his passing, the engine on the Comet was completed and the rest of the beautiful body work and interior he started will hopefully be finished by the summer of 2024. Come back then to see pictures! Rick’s family could not be happier that Rick’s employer at the time of his passing, Chris, now runs Auto Body and Frame. Chris had a very special place in Rick’s heart. Rick’s legacy, his love for cars, and the trust of his customers lives on.
